What to Do for Your Proposal to Be Outstanding

Planning a proposal is an exciting yet nerve-wracking experience, and as a Cabo photographer specializing in surprise proposals, I've gathered some tips to help make your special moment unforgettable.

1. Dress to Impress

When it comes to clothing, some classics never go out of style. A nice pair of pants and a well-fitted shirt are always a safe choice. Plus, if you’re dressed up, your partner will likely follow suit without suspecting anything. Dressing nicely sets the tone for a memorable proposal and makes for beautiful photos.

2. Stay Calm and Focus on the Moment

Proposing can be overwhelming, and I often notice the boyfriend feeling nervous and anxious. But remember, the person you love is right in front of you. Take a deep breath and focus on the love you share. When you're ready to get down on one knee, say a few heartfelt words first. Build up the moment, create a little tension, and let her emotions flow. Kneel with the knee furthest from the camera, and take your time. This approach will not only make the proposal more meaningful but also ensure stunning photos.

3. Savor the Moment After She Says Yes

After the big question and her joyful "yes," take a few minutes to soak in the moment. Hug, kiss, and enjoy each other’s company without worrying about anyone around you. Chat a little bit, it's probably been years for this moment so really savor it. Whether we’re doing a one-hour or two-hour session, these candid, intimate moments make for the most genuine and unforgettable photos. I'll be snapping a few shots in the background, capturing your authentic reactions before we continue with the rest of the photoshoot.

Quick Tips for a Picture-Perfect Proposal:

  • Keep your pockets empty to avoid bulges in photos.
  • Make sure her hands are free to avoid distractions (no phone, no bag).
  • Stand tall with a straight back and neck for a confident look.
  • Take your time and enjoy every second of this magical moment.
